Ski & Snow Board Weddings
I am a skier; downhill, X-C and mountaineering, and I have boarder friends. Ski hills are a great place for wedding ceremonies and we can accommodate any size of group. Winter in Canada is very long so I go away in December and January, limiting my skiing to February through April, the best months for a winter wedding.
I like to meet the wedding party mid-morning and make a few runs, check out some locations and be back at the lodge about 11:30 to powder up. We have the ceremony at noon when it is quieter on the slopes while most people are in for lunch. An hour passes very quickly with ceremony, photos and perhaps champagne. Then back to the lodge and free to ski.
Banff’s three ski hills each have unique attributes for winter weddings.
Mt. Norquay Ski Resort
Close to Banff, ski by the hour rather than a day ticket, smallest of the areas so easiest to coordinate, spectacular view of Banff from the top terminal of the Big Chair.
Sunshine Village Ski & Snowboard Resort
Lots of terrain, spectacular scenery dominated by Mt. Assiniboine and the Monarch, hotel on site, hot tub, all natural snow. Limited locations for guests on foot.
Lake Louise Ski Resort
Lots of terrain, spectacular scenery dominated by Mt. Temple and Mt. Victoria with the Chateau in the distance. Grizzly Gondola for guests on foot with easy access to Eagle Ridge ceremony site.
