As an Alberta Marriage Commissioner I am here to provide marriage services to everyone. As such, I am pleased to provide service to all same-sex couples who wish to make their union official.
In July 2005 the Canadian government legalized marriages between same-sex couples. The federal definition of marriage in Canada is simply: “the lawful union of two persons to the exclusion of all others.”
Many Canadians have come forward to be married as same-sex couples. The wording is still being refined. It can be spouse and spouse, husband and husband, wife and wife, or simply lawfully wedded partners in life.
Over the past decade I have had numerous couples from the United States, Australia, New Zealand and England make their bond “official” in Canada in hopes of someday being recognized in the same way in their home country.
I do not advertise on the Rainbow network or other gay-friendly commercial websites simply because I do not feel that commercial exploitation of this situation is appropriate.
